STORY

Alexandre Turpault created his company in Cholet, at the heart of a region with a long textile producing tradition, in 1847. He combined the weaving of linen and linen-cotton with a manufacturing workshop, and became renowned for his expertise, the quality of his weaving and the whiteness of his linen.

For many years, Alexandre Turpault was one of the major players in the luxury market. He won awards in 1878 and 1889 at the Exposition Universelle in Paris, receiving a silver medal and a gold medal for the quality of his textiles. At the beginning of the 1930s, he supplied table linen for the famous steamship the 'Normandie', with splendid damask tablecloths.

Initially specialising in handkerchiefs (such as the famous handkerchiefs from Cholet) and tea towels, Alexandre Turpault diversified its range of products with the introduction of bed linen and table linen.

In 1999, the company was taken over by the Vanderschooten Group, the third largest French manufacturer of household linen, located in Nieppe in northern France.

Today, Alexandre Turpault is a top-of-the-range household linen brand renowned throughout the world.
